Hovercraft refurbished

The Tiger 12 has been completely refurbished after its recent contract at Lincs wind farm

The craft is available for viewing at HMS Daedalus Gosport where it is presently stored.

The Griffon 32 is also undergoing full refurbishment in time for its next contract.

Hovercraft Rental are able to provide the only MCA coded craft for commercial work.

We have added a 32 seat Griffon hovercraft to the fleet. Carrying up to 32 passengers,the craft can be configured for the needs of the operation. With central seating and an aisle either side, roof windows and ample windows the whole length of the craft, this is an airy, roomy and bright vessel. This comfort provides an excellent way of moving passengers quickly to areas not accessible by conventional craft.

The craft has twin engines and twin propellers, and it is road transportable coming complete with its own crane to provide servicing when on site.

Landing craft added to fleet

Hovercraft Rental have added an ex-Royal Marines Landing Craft LCVP MkIV to the fleet.

This craft is over 43′ long, and over 7′ wide, with an even shallower than standard draught of under 2′, due to the removal of the armour.

It acts in support of the hovercraft, or independently. Carrying up to 5.5 tonnes load, or 12 passengers, it is coded to Maritime and Coastguard Agency standards Category 3, allowing 24/7 operations.

With twin Perkins diesel engines, it cruises at 12 knots, and operates in a wide range of sea conditions. It can deliver cargo up to a beach, and retreat for continued operations.

BWEA conference

At the recent Health and Safety focused BWEA conference, the availability of the hovercraft to assist with risk assessments and health and safety procedures was highlighted.

The hovercraft can resolve transport problems where RIBs, crew boats and helicopters cannot access. Taking staff the last mile over the beach instead of difficult transfers allows seamless transport of staff and equipment directly from the farm to land.

The craft can access the windfarm and lock on safely to the steps, with the downforce of the craft reducing the motion of the waves. A platform and easy handholds 0n the bow allow safety at sea.
